Wendel Trio is a climate and energy policy expert. He was Director of Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe and Head of the Political Unit of Greenpeace International.
Jan Philipp Albrecht serves since June 2022 President of the Berlin-based Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung. Before, he was Minister for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitalisation of the State of Schleswig-Holstein in the Günther cabinet, since 1 September 2018.
As a Member of the European Parliament, Jan Philipp Albrecht represented the citizens of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein from 2009 to 2018. Jan Philipp Albrecht's topics were home affairs and justice policy, including the reform of European data protection law, the right to legal assistance, the European Investigation Order, police policy and the fight against right-wing extremism. Particularly close to his heart are "civil rights in the digital age".
As MEP, Jan Philipp Albrecht was a Member and Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Home Affairs and Justice and a Substitute Member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection. During his first legislative term from 2009-2014, he was a member of the Committee on Home Affairs and a substitute member of the Committee on Legal Affairs. From December 2012 to October 2013, Jan Philipp Albrecht was also coordinator for the Special Committee against Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering. As the European Parliament's negotiator for the planned Data Protection Regulation, he negotiated with the European Council Presidency and the European Commission on a uniform data protection law for the EU. In addition, Jan Philipp Albrecht was a member of the delegations for relations with Israel as well as Australia and New Zealand.
From 2003 to 2008, Jan studied law in Bremen, Brussels and Berlin, specialising in European and international law. Supported by a scholarship from the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, he completed his studies with the first state law examination. Until his election to the 7th European Parliament in 2009, Jan specialised in IT law at the Universities of Hanover and Oslo within the framework of a DAAD-funded postgraduate master (LL.M.).
Sinéad Thielen was involved in facilitating the Knowledge Community on Fair Participation in the Energy Transition organised by Heinrich-Böll Stiftung EU and the Green European Foundation, where she supported the Subgroup ‘Fair Allocation of Network Charges‘. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental and Resource Management with a focus on Energy and Climate from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and has gained professional experience at the European Committee of the Regions, where she worked in the Commission for Environment, Climate Change, and Energy. She continues working on energy related topics with the German Federation for Waste, Water and Circular Economy since August 2025.
Lisa Sandtner (née Röhl) was Head of Programme - Climate, Trade and Agricultural Policy at the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union office in Brussels from November 2022 until July 2024. As such, she was responsible for the work related to the coherence of EU policies for sustainable development, especially with respect to their impact on developing countries.
Previously, she worked as Advisor to the Director in the same office and assisted with the planning, coordination and evaluation of the Foundation’s programmes in Brussels as well as the communication with the European institutions.
Lisa studied Multilingual Communication (B.A.) as well as European Culture and Economy (M.A.) at the Universities of Cologne, Aix-en-Provence and Bochum. During her studies, she gained experience in the field of energy and climate at the World Future Council in Hamburg and through a traineeship within the European Energy Transition as well as International Climate, Trade and Agricultural Policy Programmes of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union office.
Jon Worth is a Bourgogne based independent railway campaigner and commentator. He is best known for his #CrossBorderRail project crossborderrail.trainsforeurope.eu, a systematic analysis of the problems of international railways within the EU. His background is in European Union political communication and he teaches at the College of Europe, Bruges.
Sofía has a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology specializing in Archaeology from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Chile. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in economics and international law of Climate Change at FLACSO Argentina. She is the director of the Energy Transition Laboratory in Argentina. Her focus is on the research area of climate change, policies, and energy transition.
Alex Chapman is a Senior Economist at the New Economics Foundation. He has a PhD from the University of Southampton and focuses primarily on the economic impacts of climate policy on workers and households in the UK and EU.
Marine Cornelis is the executive director and founder of Next Energy Consumer, a policy consultancy focused on the social aspects of the energy and climate transitions at European and international levels. Her work bridges the needs and experience of the civil society, the scientific communities, the business and the policymakers, in the energy and climate transitions. Before Next Energy Consumer, Marine served as the Secretary-General of NEON, the European network of energy dispute resolution services and ombudsmen in Brussels. For the past 12 years, she has been focusing her work on consumer protection and empowerment issues. Her commitment enabled Marine to be appointed one of the first ambassadors of the European Climate Pact. Marine is a French national with perfect command of English and Italian. She holds a MA in political sciences (Sciences Po Lille, France) and economics (University of Lille, France).
Yana Zabanova is a Research Associate at the Research Institute for Sustainability - Helmholtz Centre Potsdam (RIFS Potsdam), where she focuses on the geopolitics of the global energy transformation, including its implications for the hydrocarbon-rich states in post-Soviet Eurasia, as well as on EU hydrogen policy. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen (NL).
